During my childhood days (1970-80) when we lived in Ayanavaram, Chennai I used to see number of sparrows which frequented our house regularly. Now I have not seen any sparrows in Chennai since 1990.

I am very exited to see an abundance of sparrows in Ooty and Coonoor. I am interested in getting involved in any Project to introduce house sparrows from Ooty to Chennai.

I really feel fortunate that I can catch a glimpse of these birds in my own locality -even when I run mundane errands for my mother like getting a pack of milk or buying a bunch of mint leaves!! I enjoy watching their mud-baths and listening to their chirping. And I feel many times blessed that I live in such proximity with House Sparrows ,especially on the occasion of this World Sparrow Day!! I have plans to fix up a few feeders and boxes and spread awareness in the street where I live.
