Radha Rangarajan - BTM Layout, 2nd Stage, Near Madivala Lake BTM Layout Bangalore Karnataka

On Monday, 16 April 2012, I saw a pair of Sparrows (male and female) pecking on grains outside a grocery store. This street is narrow, noisy and very busy. I travel through this street almost everyday and this was the first instance that I saw sparrows there. However, I have seen sparrows very frequently about a kilometer away from there, but near the Madivala lake and near some bushes, not in a populated, busy area.

I lived in an apartment in Yelahanka Satellite town, I had a feeder with grains on the balcony railing, so sparrows would always be around. There was a small shelf with a cardboard box in the balcony and they would regularly breed there. This was the case with almost all buildings (around 6) in the vicinity. Also, they were all around inside my school building and garden, in the same area.

Radha Rangarajan - BTM Layout, 2nd Stage, Near Madivala Lake Bilekahalli Bangalore Karnataka

The area I am referring to has a lake (Madivala Lake) on one side and a growing residential colony on the other. The area sees heavy traffic movement all through the day and night. I first observed sparrows here about 4 years ago when I started using this road to commute to work, now I see them almost every day. Sometimes they are in groups of 5-12 and sometimes, just a pair - a male and a female. There are some Acacia Catechu and Singapore Cherry trees all along the path, I see them flying in and out of these trees.
