In my childhood days i was at amravati city about 150 kms from nagpur. In those days we used to see lot of sparrow, crows and other birds their nest also. Now we rarely see these in cities, we can show to our children when we visit jungle or any village sort of areas, mostly in small town villages of Madhya Pradesh. I alonwith my family like sparrow and other birds and we really miss them in city life.

My home ( Awasthi Compound)is situated at an open area of the town.In the east site, there is a scrubland of size 150 sq.mt.
In the time period (seventies)we used to see a number of sparrows. There nests were also found very frequently. We used to rescue sparrow chicks that had fall down from their nests.

the reason im reporting this, the first birds name we teach a child in my area is the sparrow. now when i think about teaching the next generation i think there will be no sparrow. they are on the verge of extinction. one of the reasons i believe is the radiation from mobile phone towers.

I am living in civil lines for last 12 years but did not sight any sparrow. Last year we shifted house in same locality from Rajpur Road to Court Lane. We see some here. We were sick of sparrows in childhood, now we are sick without these creatures.

Today we visited my father-in-law's ancestral house in this village, we spotted a female sparrow that had her nest in the cavity of a wall. I also saw an artificial nest hung at a sarpanch's place but it was never used... On asking I was told by a local that around 10-15 sparrows are regularly seen by him in the village...
