I lived here for the last two and half years.Sparrows were seen but not in large numbers at the time of my arrival here. Then I prohibited the hunting and disturbance to these small birds, feeding them many times a day etc. Now their number has increases to big numbers, I can see them from my bedroom window mother feeding babies, nest 5metre from where I am typing now and lots of them chirping in the open.I am sure their number will increase more and more, if we humans take care of them.

I have kept an earthen pots in my Lawn, they come to drink water and bathe. I have a big lawn so they have plenty of worms to eat. When i am watering my lawn they don't fly off until i go too close to them.

My wife regularly keeps feed for birds around our garden flat and sparrows, along with other birds are visiting the place enjoying the food. I, along with my wife hung a cardboard box inside our sit-out for nesting purpose. A pair of sparrows showed some interest in it. Female inspected it from both outside & inside and after few visits, they rejected the box for nesting purpose. We are trying again. We regularly see about four pairs of sparrows around our flat in the garden.

They were regular visitors in the balcony to eat rice and bajra grains and drink water. Also, they frequently made nests in holes in the walls of buildings either outside windows or inside houses (mostly in the cup on top of ceiling fans) using straw and other materials.

I visited this place once in April 2012 and was surprised to see lots of sparrows after a long time in the market in the Namdroling monastery guesthouse building. I miss seeing them around in other places.
