Singaravelan - India 5 km radius in and around Kali village Kali Tamil Nadu

The area I am reporting is my native village. I have never seen sparrows for the past 5 years in this region. But I have seen many sparrows living in my own house and were the early visitors and even the wake-up callers as do the crows all through 1990s. But it started diminishing in early 2000, but I left that area to Madurai and then abroad. And so, I dimly aware about its population between 2001-2007. But this region was full of sparrows during 1990s, as most of the village houses are traditional and served as a happy refuge for sparrows....Reported by Singaravelan, 02/06/2012

Rehan - Residential colony Gamdevi Mumbai Maharashtra

I see sparrows on a small open to terrace at a friends house. They have potted plants and also keep bird seeds and water for the birds. Crows and parrots visit too. After spreading awareness of the citizen sparrow initiative to them , they have installed a sparrow nesting box and feeder on their terrace.

Astha Panchal - Rajratna society near common-plot Navapura Vadodara Gujarat

In last 4 months, I have seen 3-4 sparrows.
It was around February (5th) when I had penned down my thoughts on ecosystem around me. There was dry grass gathered to make a nest(i guess) near ventilator at Ground floor of my house.

Few squirrels are also active in my vicinity. So I guess, sparrows left!! ?

In last 3-4 weeks not a single sparrow is seen.

Thanks for conducting this survey and help sustain the biodiversity.

Rehan - Residential Carmichael Road Mumbai Maharashtra

After bringing awareness of the citizen sparrow initiative to some members in my society, the news spread around and early morning walkers on Carmical road started spreading bajra seeds and bird seeds in small garden patches to attract sparrows. Initially we saw one or two. Over time we have seen an increase in sparrows and squirrels who wait to be fed. I have put up some sparrow nesting boxes and bird feeders on trees and windows to help the lovely sparrows.
