They live inside the lobby of the building! Lively lot who dive for their food from the railings lining the corridors. People often ignore them and housekeeping tries to chase them off. They have multiplied over the last year and are quite pugnacious.

These sparrows are fed by an affectionate tantrik and small restaurant owner, who leave bird feed for them on the top of a telephone exchange box underneath our window. The sparrows are normally found in the tree right next to the telephone exchange box, treating the entire household to their lively chirping throughout the day.

Compared to last few years (2007 - 2009) number of sparrows is reduced, earlier I used to see folk of at least 30 - 40 sparrows at a time, now I see 2 or 3 at a time near the nest behind my house... I am sure there is a nest but I could not get any solid proof of active breeding..
