Every winter the vill Mandher is visited for migratory bird count.
On 12 Dec 2007, about 100 sparrows seen in residential area and few along the tank.
Status does not appear to have changed much, even in the winters of 2011, about the same no of sparrows were recorded.

Sonbarsa forest patch near, Balodabazar Raipur Chhattisgarh
On 09 Dec 2007 not a single sparrow could be seen in and around small isolated forest patch of about 100 Sq Km.
But on way to it from Balodabazar scattered sparrows 20-25 were seen .
As per latest report there are no sparrows it and around this forest patch

During visit on 09 Dec 2007 not more than 30/35 sparrows could be seen, these appear to be thinly distributed over a length of more than a KM.
About a decade back fairly good numbers recorded, particularly in Bus stand & market area, population declining.
In past nests were also located.

On 09 Dec only 10-12 sparrows recorded, as per latest report virtually no sparrows are seen.

I have been visiting this place for Horse riding, I have never seen Sparrows here..
Date:- 18th May 2012- this evening for the first time we spotted Sparrows there, 3 of them and also we saw a nest in the ventilation of a room, we believe it was a sparrows's nest as they were sitting on a rope opposite to it and were trying to shoo away a Myna that was sitting at the entrance of a nest...
