Yup, they are declining in number day by day but still at least they are here. Hope someone can save them from being extinct.

In my home town Ambala, we have small garden. We use to see sparrow in large..Even, at one time sparrow had nest on one of my gardens tree...It's really disappointed that we are not been able to see the same bird here in Delhi...Howerver, we see the pigeon in large but seems house sparrow has totally vanished...I would also like to add the same to crows. vulture and eagles...
Never thought of this time....I am ready to contribute as much I can to save these lovely small birds at least for my child and coming generations....

We started feeding 18pairs of sparrows in our residence at Excise Colony, Hanamkonda, Andhra Pradesh since 2003. They are fond of eating bajra and I used to get them and feed regularly. The above photograph is taken when they are feeding, however some of them scared of me and jumped away. Today they are fearless move around us some times they deliberately enter into our kitchen also. We also feed them them powdered ground nuts. The nest made of using plywood has become a good shelter for them. Generally they do not live in man made nests, but you know they are also getting adjusted to the changing environment and also a process for their survival.

I have reported about this area before, we have been watching sparrows regularly in my garden, we saw a couple feeding the baby and we believe that they had their nest in the bougainvillea situated in our garden. Now for the past few days we have been watching another couple mating, and we were keeping an eye where they would nest, we have quite a few clay nests as well as couple of nests made out of shoe boxes. This morning the couple entered in one of the shoe box nest and have started using it as a nest...
