Charama, NH 43, Distt Kanker Dhamtari Chhattisgarh
Vill Charama, NH 43, Distt Kanker, and surrounding area were visited on 29 Jan 2011 in search of nesting colony of Asian Open bills and other acquatic birds. Many old abondoned nests were seen in bus stand area of Charama.
At this locality more than 25/30 sparrows were seen in smaller flocks,
In surrounding villages within radius of 5 Kms very few sparrows recorded, it appears that sparrow population has declined badly in this pocket as compared to past years.
To ascertain this I am likely to revisit the site in June 2012.

When I was younger, we could see a lot of sparrows. In a few years span, they have literally disappeared. I wish we could do something, to bring back the habitat!
