Earlier, there used to be trees and gardens with hell lot of sparrows but now-a-days its diminishing drastically.
We had many nests in our surrounding where we used to see the newly hatched-out baby sparrows pinkish in color. I have personally first-aided two young sparrows. What I have observed is they have special attraction for thorny Indian Babul tree and bajra. Many people do kill them with sling-slots for entertainment or god-know-what reasons. God save sparrows

my friend mr. meenaxi sundaram ( retd. Jt. Registrar of co-operative socities )is residing there. he has provided 3 nests made of card board & thermocool sheets. 8 sparrows are dwelling there now.daily in the morning,he or his wife puts some cooked rice or paddy grains on the compound wall & all the sparrows come & eat .

i am happy that few sparrows are there near my locality (home). they daily visit us for food and water but number of local citizen sparrow is less, approximately about 5 to 6. n other species of sparrows who have totally black body with greenish or purple shade are also there, in good numbers. sparrow nests also i have seen exactly in front of our gate n 25foot away in wall hole of an old mandir(ours is actually a new construction with rcc). squirrels are aplenty in my locality n they are quit a troublesome for sparrows nest.
