| Tell us more about yourself | I am a nature enthusiast, and love all kinds of animals and birds. I also love plants and trees, and made sure to plant some tall trees in front of my house to give habitat to birds and tree creatures such as chameleons, squirrels, tree lizards, etc. When we first moved into our house, there wasn't a blade of grass around, and it was very, very dry. That's when my husband and I planted saplings of different kinds of trees, and within 2-3 years, were rewarded with the arrival of various species of tiny birds....including the sparrow, the tailor bird, the brown wren, the pigeon, the bulbul, and the crow. We now see many more kinds of birds which I am not able to identify, and for the last four years, we have even been visited by a couple of koels! We have seen them at very close range indeed. I am a freelance translator, and while working on my projects, I keep enjoying the sight and sounds of all these lovely birds. After I read about this site on the Hindu, I have been looking out for sparrows around the house, and I have noticed their nest behind the split AC unit on the window sill of my neighbour's house. I have also seen them swinging on the branches of the trees and plants in my garden. I appreciate you all for taking pains to save nature. |
