I used to live in this area. There was a small grain shop close by and a grinding mill in this area. I used to see a few sparrows regularly. They often came on to the balcony where I used to set out grain and water daily. Some of the birds became quite tame and used to come into the flat at times.

This particular report is from my childhood when we lived in a large and very rambling old house. Cleaning grain and spreading it out to dry in the sun was an almost daily activity of the cook. In consequence, there were always several sparrows around the house in those days. A small group of about 25 birds were almost permanent residents. They nested regularly in the old walls, where there were convenient holes. We had put up nest boxes also but they never used these, preferring to use existing holes in the walls. I recollect we even used to occasionally try to catch the birds using a drop-type cage. Happily, we were very rarely successful; but I do remember how pleased I was when I caught two birds in a single attempt.

Nanakramguda village Hyderabad Andhra Pradesh
I use this route to commute to office daily. My time of visit is generally between 11.00 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. (variable based on the time I have to be in office). Almost all the times I pass this village, I observe between 10 - 20 Sparrows along the route. BUT ONLY IN THIS VILLAGE. Even a few hundred metres before and beyond the village I do not see any sparrows. They are only seen in the confines of the village, around the three grain stores that are in the place.
