I saw them at the Bangalore airport. I think they like space! Bangalore had lots of it earlier. In the 70s and 80s, Bangalore was a haven for birds, especially sparrows. They used to feed on grains that they found in plenty all around. It was a general practice to expose grains directly to the hot sun. This helped in preserving grains in containers over long periods of time. Sparrows fed on them. They also need vast empty spaces. I live by the sea in Mumbai and as I was writing this, I spotted a couple of sparrows here!
