Padamnabhpur colony, Durg.
1. Dt ; April 1988, A female arrived and settled on fencing wall, followed by a male , who after waiting for few seconds mounted the female, then mated, 4 mountings.After this male sat by side if female , female still sat squatted and any further attempts to mount were discouraged. Thereafter male started pecking the female with beak, encircling it 3 times, during all this display and to allure , female showed total reluctance and flew away, followed by male.
2.Dt ; 10 April 1990 ; Tulsi, a plant species possessing medicinal value, bears flowers in March and seed in April.
Sparrows were observed feeding on these seed.
Same day a Common Evening Brown Butterfly arrived in compound and was seen by a female sparrow, who tried to capture it, but the Zig- Zag flight of butterfly made it a difficult proposition and finally it failed to capture.
Dt 05 April 1990 ; A subadult male & two subadult female chicks were observed perched on wall. When mother was feeding one of the chicks , a male sparrow arrived and started display preparatory to copulation.In turn female immediately attacked and started striking with beak and drove it away.
Dt 18 April 1990 ; In addition to Tulsi seeds , sparrows were observed feeding on flowers of Portulaca and Button Rose flowers, this was repeatedly done after short intervals of 10-15 minutes

Dt 16 July 1990.A Female observed chasing a female Paradise Flycatcher.
Dt 19 July 1990. A pair of sparrows were observed feeding probably oh partially digested seeds from cow dung, hardly a day old.
Dt ; 06 August 1990 ; Nesting material piracy from nest of Common Myna , by a female sparrow.
Dt ; 11 Aug 1990 ; Three female sparrows perched on electricity wire, immediately dashed towards a Little Brown DOVE , WHEN IT CAME AND PERCHED CLOSE BY.
Dt ; 11 Aug 1990 ; A pair in mating act, male mounting 10 times , 7 failures.During the act another male approached but the mating male drove it away.Later female alighted on ground and indulged in dust bath.Male joined it.
Dt ; 20 Aug ; Dust bath by 5/6 sparrows.
Dt 24 Aug 1990 ; A female collided with elec wire but managed balance and descended to ground.
Dt ; 29 Aug 1990 ; A Little Brown Dove was perched on elec line, no sooner a female sparrow arrived , it chased it away, earlier a female was seen chasing a dove.
Dt 26 Nov 1990.;Bath in shallow water pool by 2 sparrows in company of Common Myna.
Dt ; 24 Feb 1991 ; A female sparrow in hot pursuit of a male Purple Sunbird.
Dt ; 08 Mar 1991 ; A female caught a Grass blue butterfly but it fell on lawn, it was recollected and taken to a sapling and fed to a chick.

Dt ; 15 April 1991 ; A female caught a small of dust colour and carried it towards our backyard.Later two chicks were observed being fed by by a female on a small tree.
On 14 August 1991 , a female captured a small white coloured moth in air.
Dt 20 Aug 1991 ; On a mango tree a male was seen , holding something in beak, another nearby perched male attempted to seize the object. Later a pair joined and indulged in act of seizure and the fight for that object continued for some time.But the first male in the meantime swallowed the object, so the fight and episode ended. What was that object ?
